Under the umbrella of Munson Art Consulting, Kim researches, writes on various art topics, and she curates and coordinates art exhibitions. She also creates artwork and floral arrangements. Kim's resume (download pdf). Please see my blog for the most up-to-date information.
Kim has an MA in art history from San Francisco State University. She writes and speaks on comic art (WonderCon, San Diego Comic-Con, PCA/ACA), Labor Graphics (AFL-CIO ULSTD 2009), and lectures on art history (SFSU).
Comics Projects:
Beyond High & Low: How Comics & Museums Learned to Co-exist, a paper presented at PCA/ACA New Orleans, 2009. This version has been published in the fall 2009 edition of the IJOCA.
Sequential Signs: Comic Art in the Gallery (download pdf). This is Kim's SFSU Master's thesis (full text w/images & bibliography as submitted to SFSU). This paper discusses the differences & simularites between comic art & gallery art; the exhibition history that has ultimately brought comic art into museums & galleries and strategies for displaying the two together while still recognizing the differences in scale and intention between these two art forms.
